Provisional program

From the STOP Erasmus + project (KA220-VET-000088336), different European partners (UPV/EHU, Pistes Solidaries, MEITIS, CESIE, and Four Elements) want to tackle a complex and sometimes hidden phenomenon such as sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. There is no data on its reality, but we know it exists and must tackle it. For example, in France, a report has recently been published which informs us of the magnitude of the phenomenon: it is estimated that there are between 7 and 10,000 minors in this situation, an increase of 682% in six years, according to the Central Office for the Repression of Trafficking in Human Beings (OCRTEH).

The invisibility or quasi-invisibility of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, in politicians and public institutions, educators and social workers, higher education professionals in these professions, but also in families or young people themselves, means that no measures are taken to respond to it, and there is no training or methodologies for prevention and intervention. The consortium of professionals gathered in the STOP project wants to provide answers, make visible and improve the understanding of the phenomenon among social and socio-educational intervention professionals, and train to prevent and support minors in this situation.

In this context, this international seminar aims to be a space for reflection and dialogue between all the sectors involved that will allow us to build a shared diagnosis and reveal the dimension and characteristics of this phenomenon of sexual exploitation of children and adolescents and other related phenomena such as child pornography or the trafficking of minors for these purposes, also of the measures and alternatives necessary to fight for its eradication in all areas. To this end, on 29 September 2023 in the Bizkaia Aretoa hall (UPV/EHU) in Bilbao, in a bimodal format, we are organizing this seminar open to the entire political, academic, professional, and social community related to the subject.
